The video-uploading giants on the net are mainly for entertainment. They allow you to upload a video of any sort and then people all over the world rate them on how amusing they are. Fresh-I-Flix is more interested in the production values and looks to project full-fledged quality films from young filmmakers all over the world. It's, essentially, a community for young filmmakers to learn and develop a further appreciation of the craft.

Screenwriting is obviously a major part of filmmaking and there are people here with experience under their belts who can help out with formatting, structure, story, etc.

Virtually all personal computer editing systems have numerous options on what type of file to save as and in what quality/size.

15. I'm ready to start my first film, but I have absolutely no idea where to begin. What should I do?
You.ve come to the right place! Openly discuss what you.re thinking about for your first box office smash and you.ll receive quality feedback. It displays some handy tips for direction, casting, etc.

16. I just uploaded my video to the site. How long before it is active?

17. Can I leave written feedback on other videos?

18. Will other filmmakers be able to see my name next to any feedback that I leave with their video?

19. When uploading a film, the page asks for the names of cast members. Do I have to provide full names?
No. Whatever you feel comfortable providing is fine. It would be nice to have as much information on the video as possible, so a solution could be to just to put their first names and that will be good enough for everyone.

20. I uploaded a first cut of my video last month, but now I have better version. Can I take the old one down and upload the new one?
Sure! It's always a positive to see the progress you make on a project! Notify one of the webmasters with the video that you wish to do an update on and we'll make sure it gets done.

21. I have a film that I want to upload but I'm terrified as to what people will say about it. Do you have any advice?
It takes guts to post your work for the world to see, so it.s okay to be nervous. Know that whatever people say is just their own personal opinion about it. If someone says they don.t like it, don.t despair. In no way does that mean your work isn.t any good! There will always be someone out there who will like what you.ve done, and everyone on the Flix team will root for you. Take a leap of faith and post it here to get some public opinion and get a feel for constructive feedback. You.ll be happy you did!

22. I made a bet with another filmmaker at school that I could make a better film than them. Can you guys give me some pointers?
We don't really condone betting on who can make a better film. Those are probably the types of things you should keep to yourself.

23. I need to gather a cast for my film. I.ve offered paying some people, but I.m still struggling to gather a crew. What should I do?
First of all, try to avoid the complexities of Hollywood until your adult years(i.e. paying people). Ask your friends if they'd like to be in a film. Chances are they'll be very interested, and like a chain reaction, if one person is interested, another will be, as will another and another. You also don't need separate people for each individual job. With technology today, all you need is someone to film your movie and people to act it out. Everything else can be done on computers.

24. I don't have any editing software on my home computer. How should I go about fixing up my film?
Ask one of your friends. Modern computers come from the plant with editing software installed, so your chances of finding one at one of your friends. house is very good. Also, be sure to check out the websites of some brands of editing software. Sometimes they'll let you download a free trial or a simplified version. If that doesn't work, you can always check out your school and chances are there will be a computer somewhere that will allow you to edit your video.

25. Can I also upload trailers and advertisements for my videos?

26. Are there any restrictions on the content of videos that I can upload?
We ask that you keep it civilized. Please refrain from posting material that may be questionably offensive, pornographic, or sexually explicit. Try not to worry about what is and isn.t okay. If you think that something in your video may be .going too far,. ask one of our advisors and we.ll go from there!

27. Are there any restrictions on music that I can put in my video?

28. Will there be a way to share my video with my friends? (i.e. a specific link directly to the video that can be sent in e-mails, posted on personal sites, etc.)
Of course. On your video.s main page there is a .Send to a Friend. link. Click that, fill out the prompt, and then you can show all of your friends how you've become the next great filmmaker.

29. Is there a limit to the number of videos that I can upload?
No limit at this time, or probably ever. We're happy to feature your work, just make sure that it's something you're proud of and are ready to show the world that you're the next great filmmaker!

30. I have a video that I want to upload, but its over 100 MB. What should I do?
Try rendering it as a different video format, MPEG files probably being the best. If the video is still too large, try adjusting the rendering quality in your editing software's options. The current 100 MB upload limit is not set in stone, and as the site expands, that number may be increased.

31. Is it required that I copyright my work in order to put it on the website?
Technically, all of your original work is already copyrighted to your name by default. Copyrighting it with the United States Copyright Office makes it a valid, legal piece of work, and, in the untimely event that someone were to steal your work, would make the process of retaining and protecting the rights a whole lot easier.

32. Can Fresh-I-Flix provide me with downloads to editing software and/or screenwriting software?
Unfortunately, no. We can't provide direct downloads to software, but we can provide links to websites that provide sample downloads of their products and, in some cases, may even provide the entire package.

33. Can I talk about non-film related topics on the discussion board?
Yes, as the site continues to grow, we hope to create more activity on the discussion board, and if other filmmakers are networking with each other by any means on the discussion board, then we.re doing our jobs!
